Where P:X started
P:X started here, before any of it was code. These sixteen clips are hand-animated, frame by frame in a video editor, in early 2021: the same circles-and-bars vocabulary, textured with a grain effect we called static. This set of sixteen is also where a familiar number comes from: when the generative algorithm shipped, sixteen editions out of the 384 were hand-curated, the same count as these original prototypes. Unreleased for years, they'll eventually be minted themselves as a record of it.
Once it came time to build P:X as an actual generative piece, that static effect turned out to be too heavy for the code to run, so it got dropped. What's below is what survived the translation: the same shapes, flattened, worked out by hand before they became the algorithm.
